Where is CUHK-Shenzhen located? Is it far away from the city downtown?
Longgang District, in the northeast part of the city. The campus is 30-40 minutes by taxi from the closest CBD area.
Is CUHK-Shenzhen a private university?
CUHK-Shenzhen is a joint-venture university. It was founded in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, upon approval by the Ministry of Education.
Is your Programme taught in English?
Yes, MSc in Marketing is a fully English-taught programme.
Why Shenzhen? How is it different from Hong Kong or other big cities in China, such as Beijing and Shanghai?
Shenzhen is the third largest city by both population and GDP (surpassing Hong Kong since 2017). It is a high-tech city and incubates many top Chinese high-tech companies, such as Huawei, DJI, BYD, etc.
Where is Shenzhen? How far is it from Hong Kong?
Shenzhen is located on the southeast coast of China, bordering Hong Kong to the south. It takes 14 minutes by high-speed train to travel between West Kowloon of Hong Kong and the CBD area of downtown Shenzhen.
What should I do if I have entered incorrect information or need to update my application materials?
Applicants should send an email to the Programme Office at mscmkt@cuhk.edu.cn explaining the reason and requesting to withdraw their application. The Programme Office will handle such withdrawal requests on a case-by-case basis.
What qualities does the program look for in applicants?
First, the Programme conducts a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant's background, including but not limited to the following aspects: educational background, professional ethics, social activities, awards and honors, practical experience, English proficiency, as well as the thoroughness and completeness of the application materials.
Second, the Programme seeks students who have a strong interest in marketing, business knowledge, and their practical applications. At the same time, we value candidates who possess independent thinking skills, a collaborative spirit, the ability to analyze issues dialectically, and the capacity to apply what they have learned in practical contexts.
What's the relationship between CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen?
The relationship is called “One Brand, Two Campuses”. The two campuses are on par in academic-related standards and quality assurance, including but not limited to faculty recruitment standards, program design, assessment, and grading etc. Upon graduation, CUHK-Shenzhen students receive a degree conferred by CUHK.Please click here to explore more about our university.
Does the tuition fee include textbook fee?
No, students will need to pay for their own books and other supplies.
Does the Programme offer scholarships?
Yes, we offer two types of scholarships. Merit-based Entrance Scholarships are granted to qualified candidates who may receive tuition waiver up to 100%. Merit-based Entrance scholarships are granted based on the results of candidates’ undergraduate qualifications and accomplishments, interview performance, and pre-term grades. Scholarships for Academic Excellence will be awarded to students with outstanding academic performance.
What is the total tuition fee and when should I make the payment?
The total tuition fee for 2025 entry is RMB 267,000, which is paid in installments. The first installment requires 40% of the total tuition fees to be paid within 14 days. The rest installments shall be paid as instructed in the offer letter.
Do I need to pay the application fee?
You need to pay RMB 600 application fee via the online application system.
Dose the Ministry of Education recognize the degree of this Programme?
Our degree is recognized by the ministry of education, which can be certified in the Ministry of Education Service Centre.
Does the Programme arrange internships or full-time work?
We will not arrange internships or full-time work but we offer considerable resources and opportunities for students to identify alternatives and make their own choices. We invite large numbers of high-level practitioners as lecturers and seminar speakers, which provide opportunities for job-related networking. Supplementing this, the Career Development Center of Shenzhen Finance Institute provides students with all-round, systematic and personalized employment related services, covering all aspects including career positioning, career planning, internship recommendation, job application and interview support.
